Band Camp Update

August 10 – 14, 2020
8 am until noon
Students will need to take a daily self-assessment before coming to camp each day.  Temperatures will be taken.
Due to issues with Covid-19, band camp will look different this year.  We will only rehearse in the morning to avoid issues with students congregating for lunch.
Students should plan to arrive just before 8 am and leave immediately at the conclusion of rehearsal.  Students cannot congregate together to talk.
All rehearsals will take place outside…..NO PLAYING OF BRASS OR WOODWINDS IS ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING!
Students and staff will observe proper social distancing at all times.
Masks will be worn.
All students that are planning to take in-person classes and are signed up for band should plan to attend band camp.  If you are not planning to attend band in-person, there is no need to attend camp.

BAND CAMP DATES

Band camp is held at BWHS and will begin on Monday, August 10th to Friday, August 14th.  We work closely with athletic coaches so that our athletes can practice with us but also attend athletic practices and scrimmages.  We are working closely with the HS administration to make sure that we have a safe environment and follow CDC, OHSAA and BWLSD protocols.

 

“Remind” Sign up!

Parents and students are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to join the appropriate band “Remind” group if they have not already done so.  Important information can be sent out quickly for such things as:

  1.  A change of uniform for a performance due to weather.
  2.  Information regarding a change of return time after a performance so that parents aren’t stuck waiting and wondering.
  3. General reminders about report times, activities, etc.To get this important info, parents and students sign up as follows:
    Class of 2021 – Text the number 81010 and put the code @21bwhs as a text.
    Class of 2022 – Text the number 81010 and put the code @22bwhs as a text.
    Class of 2023 – Text the number 81010 and put the code @23bwhs as a text.
    Class of 2024 – Text the number 81010 and put the code @24bwhs as a text.

Chaperones Needed!  New BWLS rules in effect!

We are in need of chaperones for our trips this fall!

Big Walnut Local Schools now require all chaperons/volunteers to have a background check and application on file with the school district.  To do so, please visit http://www.bwls.net and click on Parents/Community to scroll to “Volunteer Opportunities”.  Volunteers need to do this at least one week prior to the trip.  All of our chaperones and equipment bus drivers need to do this ASAP!
